Firefighter Timothy Royce

We are saddened to report that Firefighter Timothy Royce, a 27-year veteran and former Assistant Chief of the Mapleton Fire Department, was found dead the morning of March 30 of an apparent heart attack. This followed his responding to two separate calls within 24 hours of his death.

Timothy Royce’s death was ruled an in-the-line-of-duty death by the Fire Chief. Timothy is survived by a grown son and daughter.

The Minnesota 100 Club was honored to present to Timothy’s children checks totaling $10,000. This is our first award in 2018 and brings the total amount awarded since our inception in 1972 to $567,000.

We thank our members for joining us in supporting the Royce children, and all the first responders we have awarded. Our deepest sympathies to the Royce children.
